Founded in 1932 by Mr. Russell B. Johnston, Johnston-Tombigbee Furniture Manufacturing Company initially produced wooden bedroom chests and armoires. As the business prospered and demand increased Mr. Johnston expanded the product line and produced complete bedroom suites. J.T.B., as the company has become known, was, at the time of Mr. Johnston's death in 1958, endowed to his four grandsons, two of whom are the current owners.

J.T.B., as the company has come to be known, was, at the time of Mr. Johnston's death in 1958, endowed to his four grandsons, one of who, J.Reau Berry, is its present owner and president. Under his direction, J.T.B. has entered a "New Era of Excellence."

In the decades since 1958, J.T.B. has experienced steady and consistent growth, necessitating expansion and additions in sales and maufacturing. Today, J.T.B. supplies multiple retailers nationwide and also enjoys contract sales with large national hotel chains which include the following:
